As I've been following the stimulus bill wrangling closely, my mood has become abysmal. A good friend and co-worker retired today, even though he's uncertain that he can afford it. He didn't want to stay on and put other people in danger of losing their jobs. The atmosphere is too desperate sometimes. So, I wrote this piece, and I couldn't hold on to it for another two weeks. I intended to post it on the 20th, but here it is now. It cheers me up a bit to think this way, so maybe it will cheer you, too.
